Read some stuff and trying to work on new dramas.
Holy Boy (Lee, Heejoo): It was not the Sasaeng type of story I expected. Yes it does involve fans kidnapping their idol and then losing sanity over time but they all had a connection to Yosep. There's not much mention of them having the same kind of typical fan behaviour such as plastering posters on the bedroom wall, waving the lightsticks, attending fan signs etc...there's nothing of that sort. Instead the fans who plotted this kidnap are mostly older and somehow they have been portrayed as psychologically messed up. If there was one thing I wish this novel did, it was to vary the ages between the 'fans.' Not limiting to 20-30 year olds and upwards. Perhaps add teenagers to the mix and not have them make brief ageist statements when all the fans are waiting for Yosep to appear. It seemed ageist in general.
Perfect Crown (2026) / A Grand Princess of the 21st Century : IU is Castle Beauty CEO Seong Huiju, a successful, ambitious businesswoman whose reputation tarnished for being born out of wedlock which ruins chances of prospective marriage partners. She decides to up her status and gain a title by seeking out Grand Prince I-An and form a farce marriage with him. I-An is also under pressure by the Queen Mother / sister in law to marry. Prime Minister Min Jeongwoo is the old school friend of Huiju and a mutual school peer of I-An. His friendship has always been rosy with Huiju but he has grown to like her as more than a friend over the years but never actually confessed.
I do not like triangles however when it has two actors you like it does not help and eventually start watching anyway. I enjoyed the music and this alternative universe involving the monarchy. This drama had a lot of glitz and stunning costumes related to the royalty but the writers missed out on so many opportunities to make things more interesting. I was hoping to see more of the old school friendship between Huiju, Jeongwoo and I-An plus the Queen's past prior to becoming the Crown Princess. The ending was rushed, time jumping and not giving proper closure for some characters. I know it's 12 episodes in total but maybe an extra episode or two would have been more satisfactory.
Orange and the Bread Knife (Cheong Ye): A short read but it was rather relatable. Oh Yeongah is tired of being a rather yes woman type and pleasing people including her best friend Eunju and boyfriend Suwon. Rather than spend money on therapy, she tries a new centre which has free therapy and undergoes an experiment that lasts for four weeks. Assuming it was meant to improve her wellbeing, the effects on Yeongah are something else and she becomes another person who does not hold back on her thoughts. The unmasking causes a lot of rifts and miscommunication for Yeongah but she also uncovers some things about those close to her in the process. This is a novel you might identify with if you question your sanity and your supposed say yes to everything persona.
The Prosecutor's Proposal (2026): I plan to read the web novel as that is now completed but I could not resist watching the drama first since Twitter/X went crazy with some popular clips that got fans flailing.
Prosecutor Ju Taeseon hires office assistant Lee Chaeha as his investigator. Unbeknownst to Chaeha, Ju Taeseon intentionally hired him due to the fact he is the son of Lee Gilyoung who killed his father fifteen years ago. What originally was meant to be some form of revenge turns into something more complicated as the story progresses for these two.
I'm going to say right away that I absolutely enjoyed the chemistry Kim Yoon Sik and Park Si Woo offered on screen and their off screen interactions were rather adorable. Given the length of each episode and the fact this drama was only 10 episodes in total, quite a lot was squeezed in which suffered near the end. The tension, the kisses and the emotions were great. The drama sadly felt rushed as we hit the final episode. I'm hoping the web novel will enlighten me on a few things as I sense a lot of details were omitted in the drama.
KNK - Fairytale - Keunakeun released a new single for Tinkerbells to celebrate a new song since their last album Airline was released in 2020. While Heejun and Dongwan left KNK, they came back to the group to release Fairytale with the other three members.
