[MUSIC ROUNDUP] KARD + BTS/Bangtan Boys with Dynamite remixes

KARD are back with new single "Gunshot" and BTS release new remixes and a B-side MV of Dynamite.

Co-Ed group KARD change their direction slightly with their latest track Gunshot and I was not expecting it at all.  Even after numerous viewings of the MV, that ending when Jiwoo shots her other self I just pause and wonder what I watch.  It leaves me stunned each time.

Gunshot is not tropical summer beats.  There is a dash of Red Moon and You In Me.  I will confess I'm a little tired of the guns and bullet fascination in videos overall but apparently in this song it symbolises verbal abuse.  KARD do not hold back at all with this topic.  The video has gritty visuals, a cyber punk  theme and about two different worlds ('good' KARD vs 'bad' KARD).  I am impressed with the explanation on Gunshot here by KARD themselves.

BM and J.Seph seemed to have stepped back a little in this song while Jiwoo and Somin dominated with their vocals and stage presence.  Jiwoo has so much charisma and really grabs the camera with her expressions.  She's not showing a pretty face for the sake of the camera, she is unafraid to show ugly expressions with anger and savagery.

I always liked these particular dance performance videos from Dingo Music because the quality is just amazing.

BTS Dynamite remixes

BTS released a Dynamite B-side MV and also some remixes - acoustic, poolside and tropical.   I am still not really sold with the song sadly but admit it does make a fitting meme/hashtag/challenge on SNS.  It's already becoming a challenge on TikTok.  The chorus is too catchy to ignore and of course if you need a smile then watch the video of seven cute guys having fun and dancing disco together.

As for the B-side MV - it is the Dynamite video but there are different cuts included which were not featured in the original version.  It seems to flow better and there is more equal focus on all the members and not just the younger members who are the more popular ones among the fandom.
