[MUSIC ROUNDUP] VIXX, MONSTA X + SNUPER

Scentist - VIXX

The title track for their latest full-length album, Scentist is simply seduction. Nobody here gives the Starlights the chance to breathe with their visuals and choreography. I actually like their singing tone here, it's not killing their vocal chords and Ravi's rapping is not bothering so many fans (we all know his rapping is marmite). VIXX weren't joking about the scents theme and its strong effects. In the MV there's even a scene of them in a lab trying to work out a scent that reminds them of a special person, something that is intoxicating.

Puzzle - MONSTA X

Puzzle is the second original Japanese single for MONSTA X and is part of their first Japanese album which includes other new songs plus Japanese versions of other well-known singles like Hero, Beautiful and Shine Forever. Believe it or not, these guys can be utterly adorable. If you ever watched some of their variety show appearance they are quite dorky and the Puzzle MV shows these guys are having such fun together.

Puzzle is one of their much cuter songs, far away from their heart-pounding charismatic selves. It's such an inspiring song where they meet the other person who happens to be the perfect match or in some way the missing piece of the puzzle who makes them complete so they can chase their dreams together. Yes it's making me fuzzy and want to hold hands with these guys before running up the hill with them. Only thing which throws me off is how Hyungwon and Minhyuk's voices are distorted to a higher pitch chipmunk sound. I didn't even recognise their voices until I read the lyrics but it somehow makes the song a much bubblier and cute tune.

Tulips - SNUPER

Another song to potentially snatch my soul. SNUPER often release such fun dance tracks but know when to pull out their suave charisma. They did it with Back:Hug for instance. Now they're doing it again to great effect with Tulips. Wow. Let me breathe, guys. Tulips is about the guys' attraction to a special girl and asking her if she would be their flower because she's that pretty. I enjoy the dancing so much more after seeing the comeback stages (and I am appreciating Suhyun's red hair here along with Sebin's purple hair wow). The hand gestures to symbolise flowers and petals...definitely approve.
