[MUSIC ROUNDUP] VIXX!LR, B.A.P, DAY6

Sorry I haven't updated much on this blog. Been busy with the KARD fan meet that took place at the beginning of September (working on a little report so hopefully that will be done along with a mini album review for Pentagon).

Anyway here are some songs that have grabbed my attention since September arrived.

Whisper - LR

VIXX sub unit featuring Leo and Ravi return with another mini album. LR's new title track Whisper is a sultry, sensual tune with a rather pleasant visual feast of an MV to go with it (ok maybe Ravi's dreads will raise eyebrows). Threads of destiny pop up a lot in this video and a dash of contemporary dance reappears. I loved seeing such style in Beautiful Liar so it was great to see it used again in Whisper. There's also a nod to the previous album's tracklists if you notice the books titles in the MV.

Honeymoon - B.A.P

Ignoring the mullet style on Himchan and Jongup, the MV is definitely all about aesthetics and wonderfully colourful cinematography. The song starts slow with a whistle and then transitions into Himchan beginning the first vese. What struck me about this song was the line distribution. Himchan starting the song off caught me off guard plus he and Jongup have managed to gain more lines so the vocals aren't always focusing on Daehyun and Youngjae. The lyrics of Honeymoon somehow blend well with the MV setting as it does make the listener feel like they are in a forest and just letting go so they are freer than ever (it's an incredibly surreal tune). Definitely a song to add to your motivational/be inspired playlist methinks. Do check out their stage performances for this comeback too. Here is a HQ fancam from Mnet of their first comeback stage.

The other two songs on the single album are Rewind and All The Way Up. The latter is the more upbeat song amongst these three tracks and just as inspiring to keep on going up and not let yourself fall down. Rewind is a slower yet more dramatic tune about waiting for your lover in the same place where they left you and how you wish you could rewind to back when this relationship was still alive. It's a mellow song you'd probably sing aloud if you were down.

I Loved You - DAY6

This song is about the end of a relationship but still feeling love for your other half and hating them for making you feel this way. With regards to the MV it is a follow up to the last DAY6 song What Can I Do. Jae's story may not really mesh with the others since he seems to be more of a BFF to his peers and is generally playing a charming guy who makes everyone smile around him.

YoungK and Dowoon befriend each other after YoungK helps stop someone beat up Dowoon in an amusement arcade and takes the beating instead (definitely laughed out loud when I saw Dowoon give YoungK the egg to heal his cheek - classic remedy). Wonpil's unrequited feelings are evident if you manage to spot it here and in the previous MV.

There are theories amongst the fandom on whether this is a triangle between Wonpil, the girl and Sungjin or whether Wonpil used to fancy her and then ended up carrying those feelings towards his best friend instead. Who knows? The vagueness in the storyline isn't a bad thing though as it makes everyone discuss and analyse what is going on with the characters.

The other song for this month on EveryDAY6 is the rather poignant I'll Remember which is about closing the door on your relationship once it is over but not forgetting the memories of being together. Somehow this feels like a little follow-up to I Loved You.
