[ALBUM REVIEW] Five Senses - PENTAGON

Debuting in October, Cube Entertainment's new boy group Pentagon return again with a new mini album. How does it compare to their first album though?

Can You Feel It? Swanky title track where the boys are truly bewitched by a girl. Their feelings are undeniable. Vocal and Rapper Lines all sound suitably suave for this song and it's nice to see Yan An get to sing more. I'd have liked more from Shinwon who sadly only got two short lines to sing

Engine Moving on to the next track we turn to a funky dance tune. This is quite literally a good, driving track. You can just imagine it as you listen to each line and the hidden puns in the lyrics haha. Feelings are heating up between a couple...just like an engine.

Pretty Pretty More brass use yet it works really well for Pentagon. You heard it in Gorilla and Can You Feel It? but also here in this track. Brings out the playful, happy nature of the group. The guys shout out to a girl who is constantly pretty over the year, for the entire day and whose beauty beats other fellow females.

Fuller Disco club beats right this way. This may get the listener on their feet and grooving slowly. Just soak yourself deep into the music while dancing at the club, ignore the phone calls and get into the beats.

You Cannot Get Upset / Stay Crazy The last track on this album slows down and takes a more chilled take to finish the mini listening session. It's like a nod to the active/rebellious/partying youth. Embrace the party today and deal with other emotions tomorrow.

Overall

The title track is definitely an upgrade to Gorilla and it's a strong single that will hopefully get this group noticed much more in the next steps of their career. In general this EP is another good stepping stone for Pentagon and shows the group's harmonies and all round singing and rapping capabilities. If there is one thing I'd like to see in the next album is that Shinwon will be given more lines to sing. Yan An has a great voice so it is nice to see him get his chance to contribute with more lines where possible alongside the likes of Hui, Yeo One, Jinho, Kino and Hongseok. Five Senses is a short EP though it still packs six cool songs to jam to for approximately sixteen minutes.
