[ALBUM REVIEW] EXODUS / Love Me Right - EXO

EXO's second full length album "EXODUS" arrived back in April. Does it deliver? Here is a brief paragraph on the album overall.

As a fan, it has taken a very long time to get this review done due to many things happening in 2014 but in addition to many concerts or music performances, EXO had also been working on their second full length album following XOXO / Growl. So finally I'm able to sit through this album and give my general thoughts.

Is this album still good, despite the departure of some members? It is. In my previous review for Overdose I indicated that their sound was definitely sounding mature and perhaps a little more on the sensual side. EXODUS / Love Me Right album continues that approach very nicely. The songs which give me that feel are Playboy, Hurt and Lady Luck. Tracks such as My Answer, Promise, First Love maintain EXO's vocal strength and capability of pulling off wonderful ballads that express sweet love or heartache. Love Me Right, Tender Love and Call Me Baby are examples of funky tunes that bring out the various genres in this second full-length album.

A listener may notice that some of the members have had to step up to take on extra parts in the songs. Example - Chanyeol having to do the rap in Promise (Chinese version), D.O. helping to even out the Chinese vocals in EXO-M's songs and Lay rapping while providing his usual vocal role (Promise and Love Me Right to name a few).

EXO still delivers - whatever one may think. How far they can go is up in the air.
