[RESTAURANT REVIEW] Yijo

With a change of management from a few years ago, we thought we'd try this local Korean restaurant after walking past it a few times.

The banchan served during our visit consisted of sweet potato, kimchi, beansprouts and seaweed

Pajeon (there were 4 large quarters but 2 were already taken before I took this photo)

Kimchi fried rice / Kimchi Bokkeumbab. This is apparently a side dish on the lunch menu but it was quite filling, especially when you were given miso soup on the side.

Beef Bulgogi Deopbab. "Covered rice" and a casual one-dish meal.

Tofu Dolsot Bibimbap. The classic. The favourite we tend to order during meal time.

Thoughts

Service overall was fine. We had one waiter coming over to take our order and explain what each of the Banchan were as he laid them on the table and he was able to explain some of the dishes on the menu to us when we wanted to double check something.

The special lunch menu tends to be on weekdays only with full price dishes and service charge being in the evening and on weekends so do consider which time of day you wish to visit for a meal. Prices are reasonable and reflect what you get in Central London and in restaurants in New Malden. Food was definitely fresh and the boiled rice was hot.

I would recommend this restaurant if you don't fancy a long trip to the little Korea town or Central London and happen to live locally in North London. Another alternative could be K-Cook situated in Hendon Central, which I reviewed in the past.
